Safari Highlights: Great Migration games drives Tarangaire National Park, Lake Manyara National Park, Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater.
The Ndutu area is famed for its short grass plains which grow grass which is particularly rich in nutrients and sustains the migratory animals whilst they have their babies. Traditionally the wildebeest and zebra tend to calve on these plains with a peak around February which makes for a beautiful natural spectacle and some exciting predator hunting behaviors.
The Annual Migration overview: the best times to visit The Serengeti Migration
July – October: This is when the wildebeest are in the northern Serengeti plains, and you have a chance of seeing up to thousands crossing the great Mara River. As the sight of the wildebeest crossing the so dramatic, it is considered by many the most desirable time to see the migration.
December – March: Currently the wildebeest are in the southern area of the Serengeti, more specifically in Ndutu which is actually in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and it is calving season. February is the only time of year when you are almost guaranteed to see the big herds all together as they always come south for calving season.
The rest of the year: In November, April, May and June the migration is “in between” locations and as such these months are slightly transitional times to see the herds.
Day One: Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to your Hotel
You will arrive at the Kilimanjaro International Airport and greeted by our driver. He will take you your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay. Dinner and an overnight stay at TWO MOUNTAINS LODGE.
Day Two: Arusha – Tarangire National Park
You will have an early breakfast and leave your hotel for a game drive in Tarangire National Park. You will enjoy a picnic lunch within the park. You will continue the game drive and end the evening with dinner and overnight stay at SANGAIWE TENTED LODGE.
Day Three: Tarangire National Park – Lake Manyara National Park
After breakfast you will be driven to Lake Manyara National Park for a game drive during which you will be provided with a picnic lunch. In the evening you will have dinner and an overnight stay at KARATU TENTED LODGE.
Day Four: Lake Manyara – Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast you will be driven to Ngorongoro Crater for a full day game drive during which you will be provided with a picnic lunch. In the evening you will have dinner and an overnight stay at NGORONGORO TORTILIS CAMP.
Day Five: Ndutu Conservation Area
After breakfast you will be driven to Ndutu Conservation Area for a game drive during which you will be provided with a picnic lunch. In the evening you will have dinner and an overnight stay at NDUTU KATI KATI TENTED CAMP.
Day Six: Ndutu Conservation Area
You will enjoy a full day game drive with a high chance of seeing the great migration. In the afternoon you will have a hot lunch at the camp / lodge. After your hot lunch you will enjoy an evening game drive followed by dinner and overnight at the camp / lodge. You will have dinner and an overnight stay at NDUTU KATI KATI TENTED CAMP.
Day Seven: Ndutu – Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, you will be driven to the Central part of Serengeti National Park to enjoy a full day game drive with a high chance of seeing the big cats. In the afternoon you will have a hot lunch at the camp / lodge. After your hot lunch you will enjoy an evening game drive followed by dinner and overnight stay at SERENGETI KATI KATI TENTED CAMP.
Day Eight: Serengeti National Park – Arusha
After an early breakfast you will be driven back to Arusha for dinner and overnight stay. Dinner and overnight stay at TWO MOUNTAINS LODGE.
Day 9: Arusha – Kilimanjaro International Airport
You will be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your international flight.
